Alachua County Middle School Student Selected for Summer Institute
Korina Coe, a 7th grade student at High Springs Community School, was chosen by the Renaissance Learning Company to participate in the Summer Institute for the Gifted at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. The program, which began in 1984, provides quality education and social opportunities for the academically gifted students. During the three-week institute, Korina will be challenged with academic courses that include humanities, sciences, mathematics, visual and performing arts, and fitness. Additionally, she will be taking enrichment courses such as cooking. In the evenings, Korina will have supervised tutorial study sessions and out-of-class assignments.
A student in the High Springs’ gifted program, Korina also runs track, is involved in the school’s book club and works as a media aide.
