2007 Valedictorian Makes DeSoto County History

Valedictorian Denise Lam has made history in DeSoto County. Denise is the first student ever to receive her associate’s degree and high school diploma in the same year through the dual enrollment program.

Although English was not her primary language, Denise overcame language barriers and various life obstacles to achieve success.

Denise was the school’s news editor for the Bulldogs’ Bark, the treasurer of the National Honor Society and a member of the Academic Team, Renaissance Committee and Art Club. To receive her associate’s degree, she had to take summer and evening classes at South Florida Community College.
