Krista Blasberg
Second Place Winner, Adult Education,
Region 3

Krista's bleak days during her early years included poor attendance and poor grades during high school. Disaster struck when she ran away from home and refused to return. After discovering she was pregnant, Krista realized she needed her parents' help and returned home. She also knew she had to become a success to properly rear her child. The first step to achieve success was to obtain her high school diploma.

Krista enrolled in Sumter Adult Education Center where she attended preparatory classes and took the GED exam at age 17. Soon after passing the GED exam, she enrolled in the certified nursing assistant (CNA) class, completed the program and passed the CNA exam.

Krista worked as a CNA at Lake Port Square Assisted Living in Leesburg, Florida. She loved her work very much, but she wanted to do more. After about three years, she decided to become a registered nurse (RN) and a certified mid-wife. She is currently attending Pasco-Hernando Community College in Brooksville, Florida. She also works on weekends as a CNA at Park Meadow Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville. Her goal is to graduate with an associate of science degree and become a registered nurse by 2007
