Welcome to the Florida Virtual Education

Florida is a nationally-recognized leader in K-12 virtual education. Florida has the largest state virtual school in the nation and Florida school districts offer online schools, programs and/or courses for their students. Florida's virtual schools and programs provide high quality online instruction and curriculum that meet state and national standards and are held accountable for student and school/program performance.

State Virtual Education

Florida Virtual School (FLVS) Classic

  • Primarily part-time
  • Year-round operation
  • Grades K-1 (open to all students)
  • Grades 2-5 (Eligibility per F.S. 1002.455)
  • Grades 6-12 (all students - public, private and home education students)

FLVS Full Time

  • Grade K-12
  • School-year calendar
  • State-level full-time public school
  • Also available to school district and virtual charter schools

District Virtual Education

District Virtual Instruction Program (VIP)

  • Full-time grades K-12
  • Part-time grades K-12 (courses measured by state or AP assessments)
  • Full-time or part-time for selected programs or courses

District Franchise of FLVS

  • Eligibility same as FLVS
  • District teachers teaching district students using FLVS curriculum
  • School-year calendar

District Virtual Course Offerings

  • Individual online courses offered by school districts

Charter Virtual Education

Virtual Charter Schools

  • Full-time grades K-12
  • Serves district students
  • School-year calendar

Blended Learning

  • Combination of traditional classroom and online instruction
  • Open to full-time students enrolled in a brick and mortar charter school
