District Virtual Instruction Programs

Welcome to the School District Virtual Instruction Program Web site which serves as a centralized location for information about this program. As technical assistance and other materials become available related to this new virtual education option, they will be posted on this Web site. Please check back often.

Provider Approval for 2010-11

The electronic application to become an approved provider for the Virtual Instruction Program was available from October 1-31.

2009-2010 Approved Virtual Instruction Program Providers

Section 1002.45, F.S., creates the School District Virtual Instruction Program and requires Florida school districts to offer this virtual instruction program for students in their districts beginning in the 2009-10 school year.

The following entities are approved to contract with districts to operate virtual instruction under the program delineated in section 1002.45, F.S., for the 2009-10 school year:

  • Authorized by Statute:
    • Florida Virtual School (all students grades K-12)
    • Florida Connections Academy, LLC (all students grades K-12)
    • K12 Florida, LLC (all students grades K-12)
  • Approved by Department:
    • Advanced Academics (limited to grade 9-12 students in dropout prevention, Department of Juvenile Justice and career education programs)
    • CompuHigh (all students grades 6-8; limited to grade 9-12 students in dropout prevention, Department of Juvenile Justice and career education programs)
    • Educational Options, Inc. (all students grades 6-12)
    • Kaplan (all students grades 6-12)
