Governor Scott Statement on Closing the Achievement Gap

Results demonstrates improvement over past four years for Hispanic students

Tallahassee, Fla. - Today, Governor Rick Scott issued a statement about the release of the National Assessment of Educational Progress report, which demonstrates continued improvements for Florida's 12th grade Hispanic students in reading. Governor Scott said, "Florida is already the nation's leader in graduation rates for Hispanic students and due to the dedication of our teachers and hard work of our students, Florida continues to be a national model. The results released today mark continued improvement in student learning gains that is closing the achievement gap. It demonstrates we are making progress toward our goal of having all Florida's students prepared for success upon graduation."
