National School Lunch Program Workshop Schedule

In the 2009-2010 school year the Florida Department of Education (FDOE), Food and Nutrition Management (FNM) is offering free basic Child Nutrition Program Seminars as well as Professional Development Trainings, sponsored by FDOE.

New Sponsor Training

If you are a prospective sponsor and plan to participate, in the National School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program in School Year 2009-2010 you must attend the NSLP New Sponsor Training. If you do not have a Food Service Director then the individual responsible for the oversight of the Child Nutrition Programs must attend. Attendance is required for all prospective sponsors seeking approval to operate the NSLP.

This two day workshop is required for schools and residential childcare institutions who are interested in participating in the National School Lunch and the National School Breakfast programs. The Florida Department of Education, Office of Food and Nutrition Management Specialists will provide a better understanding of the regulations and requirements necessary for successful operation of the programs. The steps to become a sponsor of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast program will be reviewed and discussed in detail, as well as the forms first time applicants must complete, including the yearly Site and Sponsor Applications completed on the CNP Web system. Topics include free and reduced price eligibility process, certification and verification, menu planning options, production records and standardized recipes, School Meals Initiative, food safety, and school wellness policies.

The prospective sponsor must complete the NSLP Pre-qualification Packet, NSLP New Site Form, Prospective Sponsor Information Sheet and the NSLP New Sponsor form. These forms will be collected at the Training.
