Everything That You Always Wanted To Know About The Florida Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program
RegisterThis workshop is for sponsors selected to participate in the 2009-2010 Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP). The content of the workshop covers the review of the USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Handbook, including building your team, nutrition resources, distribution methods, reimbursement claim submission, required documentation, and promotion of the program in the school and community. There will also be a sharing of “lessons learned” from the 2008-2009 participating sponsors.
Provision 2 and 3 Training
This workshop is only for sponsors who participate or plan to participate on Provision II or III, commonly know as Alternative Meal Counting and Claiming Provisions, and are a Public School District sponsor on the National School Lunch and/or School Breakfast Program (NSLP) (SBP). At this workshop you will learn about counting and claim procedures under the provisions, updated state and federal regulations, financial impact, and controlling costs. It is highly recommended that individuals who play a vital role (i.e., Food Service Director, finance officer/planner, reimbursement claims official, etc.) in your NSLP attend this training. All Provision Sponsors MUST Attend This Workshop Prior To The 1st Operating Day Of The Base Year.Contracting With A Food Service Management Company
Are you thinking about contracting out your food service operation or just want to stay current with the most up-to-date rules and regulations relating to Food Service Management Company (FSMC) procurement? We will assist you through the process, beginning by evaluating the current food service operation. Learn what responsibilities you can allow a food service management company to take over and those you cannot when operating under the Child Nutrition Programs. We will also explain the nuts and bolts of the procurement procedures, from developing a Request for Proposal (RFP) to awarding a contract. RegisterLearn what the new United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulations are governing Food Service Vendor Operations as well as changes to the annual vendor registration requirements.
The workshop will explain the new requirements for crediting USDA commodities and changes to the National School Lunch and Summer Food Service Program regulations. In addition, there will be a review of HACCP and ServSafe procedures, onsite inspections of vendors' kitchen facilities and transport systems, recordkeeping requirements, and allowable and unallowable vendor duties.
This workshop is REQUIRED for all FSMC and Catering Vendors in order to maintain registration.
Procurement Training for Private and Charter Schools
Procurement Training for Private and Charter Schools is a one (1) day workshop which will focus on procurement requirements specific to private and charter schools. Private and Charter Schools participating in the National school Lunch and School Breakfast Program are required to meet minimum procurement standards for all expenditures made from their food service account. The federal standards constitute the minimum requirement which must be adhered to. Due to the size of these organizations and frequent changes in personnel, ongoing training concerning these requirements is essential to maintain a viable food service operation. Food Production Records – Tools of the Trade
The menus are planned, now what? Building on the meal pattern requirements and menu planning, this course will discuss the use of production records as a management tool for successful food service operations and as a requirement to document compliance with NSLP regulations.
Training will include:
- A review of the National School Lunch Program production record requirement.
- A review of the production record documentation required to verify that reimbursable meals have been served.
- A review of data required in planning and day of service sections of the production record.
- The use of production records to forecast future menu planning.
- How to use USDA’s Food Buying Guide
Prospective Sponsor Training
This two day workshop is required for schools and residential childcare institutions who are interested in participating in the National School Lunch and the National School Breakfast programs. The Florida Department of Education, Office of Food and Nutrition Management Specialists will provide a better understanding of the regulations and requirements necessary for successful operation of the programs. The steps to become a sponsor of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast program will be reviewed and discussed in detail, as well as the forms first time applicants must complete, including the yearly Site and Sponsor Applications completed on the CNP Web system. Topics include free and reduced price eligibility process, certification and verification, menu planning options, production records and standardized recipes, School Meals Initiative, food safety, and school wellness policies.
Prior to registering for the workshop, a prospective sponsor must complete and return the NSLP New Site Form, Prospective Sponsor Information Sheet; and the NSLP New Sponsor Form.
