2009 National School Lunch Week Promotion Campaign
National School Lunch Week was created in 1962 as a week-long celebration of events and activities that promote the benefits of the National School Lunch Program. The National School Lunch Program is the largest federal child nutrition program. It began in 1946 and continues today successfully serving over 31 million children. This dedicated program promotes health and well-being for children as well as an active and balanced lifestyle.The 2009 Promotion Campaign, “All-Star School Lunch,” will take place during the week of October 12-16, 2009, featuring five National Basketball Association-inspired teams that will score points with healthy school lunch menu items to help students learn about the importance of healthy eating and being active.
