The Dietetic Internship Program
Program Mission
The mission of Dietetic Internship Program is to prepare nutrition graduates
for entry into dietetics with an emphasis on improving the nutritional status of
children and the quality of school meals.
Program Goals
Program Goal 1:
To prepare dietetic practitioners for the challenges unique to child nutrition
in a school setting.
Program Goal 2:
To prepare dietetic professionals who have the necessary skills and knowledge to
practice nutrition at entry level and who are able to successfully complete the
registration exam. Achievement of these two goals is undertaken using required core
competencies and special emphasis areas. A minimum of 900 hours of supervised
practice is needed to meet the requirements set by CADE. Our program meets dietetic
practitioner competencies through the provision of a minimum of 1,450 scheduled

holiday observances.
