TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Department of Education (DOE) today began its celebration of Disability History and Awareness Weeks. During the two-week observation, school districts and postsecondary institutions throughout the state are encouraged to conduct and promote activities that raise awareness of individuals with disabilities and the disability rights movement. In honor of these weeks,
the DOE has produced a resource guide that will help schools recognize and honor disability history and awareness.

Sandra Prew, a fourth and fifth grade language arts teacher at Key Largo School was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a 2008 American Star of Teaching.
The entire 2008 Manatee Community College (MCC) radiography class passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists examination on the first attempt.
