Achieving the Dream is funded by the Lumina Foundation who partnered with several organizations including the American Association of Community Colleges and Jobs for the Future. Four colleges (Broward, Hillsborough, Tallahassee and Valencia) received a $50,000 investment grant to develop plans for addressing the academic success of low-income and minority students. Once the plans were accepted, each institution receive a four year implementation grant of $100,000 per year. The state received $75,000 per year to conduct research and spread the lessons learned around the Florida Community College System through hosting policy seminars, meetings and conferences. Chancellor's Leadership Seminar
The Foundation supports the leadership seminar designed for community college administrators who aspire to be senior managers or presidents to “grow our own” future leaders. Funds raised underwrite the seminar expenses.
