Financing College
Undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships are types of financial aid that students do not have to pay back. Student loans on the other hand do have to be paid back.
Did you know that every year thousands of businesses award scholarships and fellowships to students with academic, athletic or artistic talents. Awards are also given out depending on a students ethnicity, geographic location, field of study, or financial need?
How do you find these scholarships? Well fortunately there are several free scholarship databases available on the internet. All you have to do is create a profile and let it search through the list of available awards looking for a match. Some databases will e-mail when new awards have been entered into the database, others may require you to periodically check for any new awards, but they all offer an easy way to search through all the thousands of scholarships.
Does it cost anything to use a scholarship database? Some database services charge a fee, while many database services are free. We advise you to stay away from the "fee-based" database since the information found there will be no better than that which you find on a free database.
