Fine Arts – Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Art
Demonstration Schools
The Music Demonstration School Program is a collaboration between the Department of Education and the Florida Music Educators’ Association (FMEA), and provides an example of “best practice” in collaborations between a state agency and a professional association. Since 1988, more than one hundred schools have been designated as Music Demonstration Schools, and an additional forty schools have achieved Honorable Mention status.
The Visual Art Demonstration School Program is a new collaboration between the Department of Education and the Florida Art Education Association (FAEA), and provides schools an opportunity to earn recognition for outstanding visual art education programs. Such programs promote growth of skills and knowledge in two- and three-dimensional art as students strengthen their problem-solving skills and modes of perceiving the environment.
Those schools that meet these criteria are committed for a three-year period to assist school officials, teachers, and other interested persons in observing quality programs and obtaining information for program improvement. The selected schools receive public recognition from the Florida Department of Education and the partner associations.
Deadline to apply for the 2012-2015 cycle is Friday, June 17, 2011. There is also a Thursday, November 4, 2010 deadline associated with this program.
